A Relentless Advocate for Justice and Integrity
Eric D. Hewlett is the founding partner of Hewlett Law Firm, P.C. and a tenacious counselor and litigator who represents people and businesses across the Atlanta, Chicago, and Indianapolis areas. Eric is responsible for delivering the best results for clients of Hewlett Law Firm who have faced injustice by individuals, companies, or organizations.
Eric’s practice ranges from complex litigation to investigations, including breach of contract, restrictive covenants, student-athlete deaths, FINRA and DOJ investigations, personal injury, and premise liability claims. Whether taking on a corporation or an individual, he approaches every matter with strategy, integrity, and relentless advocacy. For Eric, he believes the foundation of effective representation begins with genuine client relationships and a clear understanding of what success looks like for each individual or organization he serves.
Before starting Hewlett Law Firm, Eric clerked for the Honorable Margret Robb at the Indiana Court of Appeals, which officially began Eric’s pursuit of justice. This experience reinforced Eric’s belief that justice goes beyond a courtroom – it also includes shaping precedent that protects those who have been harmed. Following his clerkship, Eric remained in Indiana, serving as a deputy prosecutor. He later transitioned into civil litigation practice, starting at Kightlinger and Gray LLP as an associate and then Barnes and Thornburg LLP where he has spent the last four years of his career. In his private practice, Eric represented many individuals, organizations, and big companies in high-stakes litigation and investigations. These experiences sharpened Eric’s instincts as an advocate and deepened his understanding of how to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively to judges and juries.
Eric’s formula is simple, yet proven. He leverages strong communication, sharp critical thinking, and uncompromising effort to deliver high-caliber representation and secure the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Beyond the practice of law, though, Eric is deeply committed to the thing that he is passionate about – community. He holds leadership roles with organizations like the Young Professional Council of Georgia Appleseed and 1948 Circle of Excellence. He purposefully inserts himself into local communities–whether to mentor the next generation of leaders or pitch in on local revitalization projects. Eric shows up where he is needed.
Eric is a proud Alabama A&M University graduate and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law alumnus. He is a native of the south side of Chicago and now calls Atlanta home. He is a devoted father to a beautiful 5-year-old daughter. Eric is a co-founder of a real estate development company based in Atlanta, primarily focused on the acquisition and development of properties to create more affordable housing. When he’s not advocating for his clients or building within communities, Eric finds time to be outdoors, pursues new interests, and spends quality time with his daughter, Zhuri – his greatest inspiration.
Justice isn’t just about winning — it’s about restoring balance for the people who trust you to fight for them.
